These models are from my collection. The GAZ-13 Chaika and the ZIL-115 were purchased at a collectors' toy show in Kalamazoo, Michigan, circa 2000. The Zhiguli (Lada) VAZ-2101 (blue), and the yellow Moskvitch AZLK 412, were purchased from other collectors in Michigan. All were made in the USSR.

The beautiful black Chaika model has very good workmanship, and its design shows the Packard styling influence of the mid 1950's. Gorky Automobile Factory produced the real Chaika GAZ-13 limousine from 1959 to 1981. It was introduced at the Brussels, Belgium automobile show in 1958, and was well received.

The black, modern-looking ZIL-115 limousine model does not have the glossy paint finish of the Chaika, and the driver's side rear door falls off when I open it. It is nonetheless a good model of the Soviet Union's most prestigious limousine of the Gorbachev era.

The yellow Moskvitch 412 model represents one of the more proletarian and most common Soviet cars. The model's paint is sloppily applied, and I have to put tape on the hood to keep it from falling off. It is also missing a triangular rear turn-signal lamp. The real Moskvitch 412 was produced by the Moscow Light Car Factory (AZLK) from 1967 to 1976, but continued being made at the IZH factory in Izhevsk until 1997, as the 2140. (Production information from Wikipedia.)

The blue Zhiguli VAZ 2101 (known as a Lada in the West), is a nicely made model of one of the Soviet Union's less expensive cars. It was widely exported, even to Canada.

I used to have two 1/43 die cast models of Moskvitch 403's, but I traded them to another collector years ago. Dang! Wish I kept them!

The blue Moskvich wagon looks like the one used as a taxi in the movie "Taxi Blues". Anyone else see that film?
