    So maxmermer,

Does anyone have any semi-accurate estimate of how many Volgas are in the USA? My guess would be that the total number is less than 50, though that's about as close of an approximation as I could reasonably make.

    Just curious...

    Thanks!

it's hard to come up with an estimate, because most old folks that own them probably never surf the world wide web,

    Hey Max,

Thank you for posting this. I have written an email to the seller and inquired further about this M21. Waiting for further word. Will update when I have received a reply, IF I receive a reply. Quite often sellers on Craigslist don't reply at all. Irritating, but true. We'll see.

    Thanks,

a 1000 bucks is a pretty good deal for a future Hot-rod or Custom project, I would have definitely picked it up if I had spare cash,

this Gaz 24 has already been mentioned in the thread, also selling on craigslist http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...561245948.html

Hah! A GAZ 24-10 in California. Looks kinda like it has a CA license plate on the back, but definitely not the front. I wonder if that'd even be legal! ;-)
In terms of its condition, it appears to be just an average M24 at best but the guy wants $10,000 USD for it! Hah! Hah! That's crazy. The ad says that it is an "Armenian Russian Car", which tells me that it spent some of its life in Armenia, which is probably where it was imported from. Interesting to know a bit more about this vehicle's life, but not interesting enough for me to want to give the guy a call and ask.

You know, I have seen a couple of photos of M24s in the USA, at least your one Pobeda (are there more of them that you know of?), and various older, larger cars in museums (a ZIL limo, etc.) but from what I've been able to determine during the research that I have done, I will have the only GAZ 3102 in the entire USA. Just out of curiosity, have you heard of another 3102 in America?

    Thanks for posting the ad,

    Jerry

I doubt the 2410 is a daily driver, I guess the owner is taking his chances with the plates, foreign front plates are illegal in CA, I wonder if you could do that in states where front plates are not issued, the fixing ticket in CA I believe is only $15, I saw many cars in my town sporting foreign plates, chrome covers and etc..
10k for the Volga, might suit someone who doesn't want the importing hassle,

I try not to post rumored cars, If I didn't see a picture or written proof of a car's existence I don't post it here, I've never heard of a 3102 Volga in the States, yours could be the first one.
what do you mean concerning the Pobiedas?

    Hi Max,

Sorry for any confusion in my previous post. My question regarding the Pobedas was simply whether or not yours was/is the only one in the USA. However, one only needs to read earlier in this thread to learn that there is at least one other Pobeda besides yours. However your Pobeda probably has the more intriguing story about how it made it to America!

Yes I'd have to agree with your basic approach to determining how many Russian cars are in the USA: if you can't see evidence supporting its presence here, then it isn't here. Nearest I can tell from talking with a few museums in TEXAS, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas, mine is the only GAZ 3102 in all of the USA, and as you alluded to, it could indeed be not just the only one in America currently, but the only one ever. The first and last.

I'm willing for that assertion to be proven incorrect, but until that happens, I will purport that my Volga is the first and only 3102 in the USA. Not that such a thing matters all that much to me, but it will be kinda neat to talk about when I take my GAZ to the various car shows that I intend to take it to!

I've posted pictures and articles on other Pobedas in the same category as this thread is in, I only know of three cars that were here since 1950's, my guess is that there's no more than 10 Pobedas total here in the states now
